Hinde & Dauch Paper Co.

Chesapeake Lofts is located at 401 W. Shoreline Drive in the building originally constructed by Hinde & Dauch Paper Co. in the early 1920s.

Hinde and Dauch Paper Co. invented corrugated boxes and became the largest producer of corrugated boxes worldwide. With headquarters in Sandusky, this manufacturing company expanded to 15 other plants around the world.

The building is listed by the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in industrial history.

Chesapeake Display

The building was most recently occupied by Chesapeake Display, a company specializing in the production of point-of-purchase displays.

Chesapeake Display vacated 401 W. Shoreline Drive in 1992 and is now operating in South Carolina. After over a decade of inactivity, Chesapeake Lofts is bringing life back into the building by allowing residents to experience life at Sandusky Bay.
