How big are the units?

Most are in the 1,000-sq. ft. range and are two-bedroom units. Some have a single bedroom and some have three. Because of height and configuration on the third level, many have a mezzanine second bedroom with a spiral staircase to the main floor.

How many condominiums are housed in the building?

There are 195 loft-style condominiums on all three levels plus a full service restaurant located at ground level at Shoreline Drive

A tour can be booked in advance by appointment at (419) 621-1950. For your safety, scheduling will depend on the demolition process within the building.

Is there a charge for parking?

Parking is free to residents in the large outdoor lot with building entrances located near each of the three building elevators. Individual garages can be purchased for $31,500.

Are there charges for amenities?

Residents have full access to all amenities including fitness center, outdoor pool, and whirlpool.

Are pets allowed?

Well-behaved cats and dogs are allowed.

Why is this development so important to Sandusky?

Chesapeake Lofts represent the first multi-unit residential housing development along the Sandusky shoreline. Its completion and that of the entire Paper District exemplifies a strong commitment to the revitalization of the downtown area. What are the different phases of the Paper District?

The Paper District is a brand new redevelopment of historic downtown Sandusky Ohio. Mid States Development Corp. has the privilege of working with the City of Sandusky Ohio to redevelop a large portion of the 42 acre tract on the shores of Sandusky Bay on Lake Erie. The first phase will consist of The Chesapeake Lofts, which is a 195 unit "loft style" condominium project. Amenities to include beautiful views of Sandusky Bay as well as Cedar Point Amusement Park, a private pool and covered parking. Public access around the entire site will be preserved to allow unlimited access for all to enjoy. Included with phase 1 will be a new transit marina surrounded by retail shops, eateries and office space. This area is sure to be a destination spot for boaters from all around the lake.

We hope the first units of the Chesapeake Lofts will be completed in early 2007 with the marina and associated retail to follow soon thereafter.

Phase 2 promises to include more of the same including up to 3 new condominium buildings of 100 units each, more retail and boat slips for both permanent, monthly and transient boaters. Presently we are attempting to receive grant money from the State of Ohio to ensure the completion of phase 2 sometime in 2009 or 2010. Just like phase 1, there will be unlimited access around the entire site to enjoy.
